Northern Vietnam
Hanoi is less established as a golf destination than the central coast or the south — which means those who discover it find something still relatively uncrowded. Van Tri Golf Club is widely regarded as the finest course in northern Vietnam, and the surrounding region offers a range of layouts that make a four or five night golf break genuinely compelling. Combine with a night on Ha Long Bay and the trip becomes one of the most complete short breaks available anywhere in Southeast Asia.

Phnom Penh has quietly become one of Southeast Asia's most interesting cities — its food scene, its riverfront setting and its complex history told with remarkable honesty. The golf is not Phokeethra's standard, but Cambodia Golf & Country Club offers a solid championship layout that more than justifies a round or two. Combine with Siem Reap for a full Cambodia golf break, or use Phnom Penh as a standalone destination for groups who want culture and city life as much as golf.

The Phnom Penh riverfront at night is one of the more atmospheric settings in Southeast Asia — the confluence of the Mekong and Tonle Sap rivers, lantern-lit restaurants, a bar scene that has grown considerably without losing its character. The Foreign Correspondents' Club terrace remains one of the great sunset spots in Asia. The city's food scene has developed substantially — excellent Khmer cuisine alongside strong international options.
