Why Fairway Weekends

The golf is serious

Championship courses only — courses we have played and would play again. Caddies as standard. Tee times arranged for the right light, not the most convenient slot. No compromise on the round itself.

The hotels earn their place

We choose hotels for setting, service and the morning after a long day on the course — not for proximity to the nightlife strip. Premium properties at every destination, selected because we have stayed in them.

The evenings are planned for

Good golf groups play hard and enjoy the night. Asia does both extraordinarily well. We do not pretend the second does not happen — we plan for it, and we know which destinations do it best.

Phuket — The Fairway Weekend Flagship

Phuket has it all — championship courses, genuinely world-class hotels, the Andaman Sea, and the kind of evenings that golf groups return for. This is where we send first-timers and where regulars keep coming back. The island does luxury better than almost anywhere in Asia, and the golf matches it.

Bangkok — Asia's Finest Golf City

Bangkok is chronically underrated as a golf destination. Over 60 championship layouts sit within an hour of the city centre — courses that have hosted Asian Tour events and are maintained to a standard that would satisfy the most discerning player. Add one of the world's great cities as your backdrop and Bangkok becomes a Fairway Weekend in its own right, not just a stopover.

Hua Hin — The Golfer's Choice

If the priority is the golf above everything else, Hua Hin is where you go. Black Mountain consistently ranks among the top ten courses in Asia — tour conditioning, extraordinary caddies and a layout that rewards every level of player. The royal town itself is relaxed and charming, two and a half hours south of Bangkok by road, making it a natural pairing with the capital for a four or five night break.

Pattaya — The Most Courses in Asia

No destination in Asia has the depth of Pattaya's golf course lineup. Siam Country Club, Laem Chabang, Chee Chan — courses that have hosted major Asian Tour events and offer some of the most challenging and rewarding golf in the region. Stay at the right hotel and Pattaya delivers a golf experience that rivals anywhere on the continent. Two hours from Bangkok by road, it combines naturally with the capital for a longer break.

Da Nang — Vietnam's Golf Coast

The central Vietnamese coast has emerged as one of Asia's genuinely great golf destinations over the past decade. Hoiana Shores, designed by Robert Trent Jones II along the natural dunes, is a course that belongs in any serious golfer's life list. Ba Na Hills, Luke Donald's design in the cooler foothills above the city, offers a completely different experience. Stay at the Four Seasons The Nam Hai and spend your evenings in Hoi An — one of Southeast Asia's most beautiful towns, fifteen minutes away.

Golfers wanting culture alongside sport, couples, those who haven't played Vietnam

When to go

After the round

Hoi An Ancient Town is fifteen minutes from most courses and hotels — lantern-lit streets, the Thu Bon River, the finest food in Vietnam, and the kind of evening atmosphere that stays with you long after the trip. Da Nang itself has a growing dining and bar scene along the Han River. The evenings here are genuinely special.

Ho Chi Minh City & The Bluffs Ho Tram

The Bluffs Ho Tram Strip — Greg Norman's design on Vietnam's southern coast — is ranked among the top 100 courses in the world. Playing it is not optional for any serious golfer who comes to Southeast Asia. Based in Saigon, either as a day trip for those with limited time or an overnight stay for those who want to experience the resort properly, The Bluffs earns the journey entirely on its own. Ho Chi Minh City itself adds one of Asia's most energetic urban experiences alongside it.

Golf

Our hotels

Park Hyatt Saigon, Capella Hanoi, The Reverie Saigon, The Grand Ho Tram Strip (overnight at The Bluffs)

Best for

Serious golfers, those who want a bucket-list course, urban culture alongside golf

When to go

December to April. Southern Vietnam dry season — hot, clear and consistent.

After the round

Saigon at night is one of Asia's great urban experiences — the energy, the street food, the rooftop bars above the city lights. We recommend at least one evening on the streets of District 1, and at least one dinner somewhere that takes the food seriously. Ho Chi Minh City delivers both without effort.

Hanoi — Golf in the Capital

Hanoi is less established as a golf destination than the central coast or the south — which means those who discover it find something still relatively uncrowded. Van Tri Golf Club is widely regarded as the finest course in northern Vietnam, and the surrounding region offers a range of layouts that make a four or five night golf break genuinely compelling. Combine with a night on Ha Long Bay and the trip becomes one of the most complete short breaks available anywhere in Southeast Asia.

Golf

Van Tri Golf Club, Kings Island Golf Resort, BRG Kings Island, Hanoi Golf Club

Our hotels

Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi, Capella Hanoi, JW Marriott Hanoi, Pan Pacific Hanoi

Best for

Those combining golf with Ha Long Bay, returning Vietnam visitors, culture-first groups

After the round

Hanoi's Old Quarter is one of Southeast Asia's most atmospheric evening destinations — the Hoan Kiem Lake area, the street food, the craft beer bars, the jazz clubs that appear on no list but reward the curious visitor. The Metropole's Bamboo Bar alone justifies the hotel choice. Hanoi takes its evenings seriously.

Siem Reap — Golf in the Shadow of Angkor

Siem Reap offers one of the most extraordinary combinations in golf travel — Angkor Golf Resort, Nick Faldo's design and the finest course in Cambodia, paired with the temples of Angkor, one of the world's great archaeological sites. Playing a world-class round in the morning and visiting Angkor Wat at sunset in the same day is not something many destinations can offer. Siem Reap does it effortlessly, and at a price point that makes it exceptional value for the experience delivered.

Golf

Angkor Golf Resort (Nick Faldo design), Phokeethra Country Club

Our hotels

Raffles Grand Hotel d'Angkor, Park Hyatt Siem Reap, Shinta Mani Angkor, Amansara

Best for

Golfers wanting something genuinely different, culture alongside sport, those combining with Vietnam or Thailand

When to go

November to April. Dry season — cool mornings, clear skies, ideal playing conditions.

After the round

Angkor Wat at sunrise or sunset is an experience that transcends the itinerary. Beyond the main temple, the jungle-covered ruins of Ta Prohm and the Bayon's carved faces reward those who explore. Siem Reap town has a good restaurant scene and a lively bar strip — the Pub Street area is unpretentious and well-suited to golf groups winding down after a long day. The Old Market area offers better dining.

Phnom Penh — Cambodia's Emerging Capital

Phnom Penh has quietly become one of Southeast Asia's most interesting cities — its food scene, its riverfront setting and its complex history told with remarkable honesty. The golf is not Phokeethra's standard, but Cambodia Golf & Country Club offers a solid championship layout that more than justifies a round or two. Combine with Siem Reap for a full Cambodia golf break, or use Phnom Penh as a standalone destination for groups who want culture and city life as much as golf.

Golf

Our hotels

Best for

Siem Reap combinations, culture-first groups, those wanting an authentic Southeast Asian capital

When to go

November to April. Phnom Penh is year-round but dry season offers the most comfortable conditions.

After the round

The Phnom Penh riverfront at night is one of the more atmospheric settings in Southeast Asia — the confluence of the Mekong and Tonle Sap rivers, lantern-lit restaurants, a bar scene that has grown considerably without losing its character. The Foreign Correspondents' Club terrace remains one of the great sunset spots in Asia. The city's food scene has developed substantially — excellent Khmer cuisine alongside strong international options.
