Golf in Vietnam

Golf in Vietnam

The emerging giant of Asian golf. A central coast that has produced some of the continent's finest courses in a decade, a world top-100 layout in the south, and a capital city with unexplored northern courses. Vietnam rewards those who arrive knowing where to go.

Da Nang & Hoi An

The central Vietnamese coast is now one of Asia's genuinely great golf destinations — and it has happened remarkably quickly. Hoiana Shores, Ba Na Hills and Legend Da Nang represent three completely different golf experiences within thirty minutes of each other. Add Hoi An Ancient Town as your evening destination — fifteen minutes from most courses, and one of Southeast Asia's most beautiful places to spend an evening — and the central coast becomes the strongest single destination in Vietnam golf.

Hoi An Ancient Town is fifteen minutes from most courses and hotels — lantern-lit streets, the Thu Bon River, the finest food in Vietnam, and an evening atmosphere that stays with you long after the trip. Da Nang itself has a growing dining and bar scene along the Han River. The evenings here are genuinely special.

  • Naman Retreat — thoughtfully designed, strong wellness programme

Ho Chi Minh City & The Bluffs Ho Tram

The Bluffs Ho Tram Strip — Greg Norman's design on Vietnam's southern coast — is ranked among the top 100 courses in the world. It is not optional for any serious golfer visiting Southeast Asia. From Ho Chi Minh City, it works either as a day trip for those with limited time or as an overnight stay for those who want to experience the resort properly. We recommend staying overnight — the course earns it. Ho Chi Minh City itself adds one of Asia's most energetic urban experiences alongside the golf.

Saigon at night is one of Asia's great urban experiences — the energy, the street food, the rooftop bars above the city lights. At least one evening in District 1 on the streets, and at least one dinner somewhere that takes the food seriously. Ho Chi Minh City delivers both without effort.

Our Hotels

  • Park Hyatt Saigon — refined, central, the standard benchmark in the city
  • The Reverie Saigon — opulent, design-led, strong F&B
  • The Grand Ho Tram Strip — overnight at The Bluffs resort itself

Hanoi

Hanoi is the least explored of Vietnam's three golf regions — which is precisely why it rewards those who include it. Van Tri Golf Club is widely regarded as the finest course in northern Vietnam. The city itself is one of Southeast Asia's most atmospheric — the Old Quarter, Hoan Kiem Lake, the café culture and the jazz bars that appear on no list but reward the curious visitor. Combine Hanoi with a night on Ha Long Bay and the trip becomes one of the most complete short breaks in the region.

Hanoi's Old Quarter is one of Southeast Asia's most atmospheric evening destinations — Hoan Kiem Lake, the street food, the craft beer bars, the jazz clubs that appear on no list but reward the curious visitor. The Metropole's Bamboo Bar alone justifies the hotel choice. Hanoi takes its evenings seriously.

Our Hotels

  • Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi — the finest hotel in Vietnam, full stop
  • Capella Hanoi — exceptional design, strong service culture
  • JW Marriott Hanoi — well-positioned, strong golf connections

When to Go

Vietnam's 1,650-kilometre length means weather varies dramatically by region. The central coast, the north and the south each have different optimal windows — we always advise on timing before confirming any itinerary.

Da Nang & Central Coast

February — August

Dry and warm. Peak golf season on the central coast. Book early for March and April.

Hanoi & The North

October — April

Cool season. Ha Long Bay at its clearest November to March. Excellent playing conditions.

Ho Chi Minh & The South

December — April

Dry season in the south. Hot but manageable. The Bluffs plays year-round but is best in the dry window.

How to Combine Destinations

Most golfers spend 10–14 nights in Vietnam, sequencing their trip from north to south or focusing on the central coast with an extension. Here are the combinations we recommend most often.

10 nights

Central Coast Focus

7 nights Da Nang base — Hoiana Shores, Ba Na Hills, Legend Da Nang, with Hoi An evenings. Optional 3-night extension to Ho Chi Minh City for The Bluffs.

14 nights

North to South

3 nights Hanoi (Van Tri, Ha Long Bay extension), fly to Da Nang for 7 nights (3 courses, Hoi An), fly to Ho Chi Minh for 4 nights (The Bluffs, city exploration).

10 nights

South & The Bluffs

Ho Chi Minh City base with The Bluffs Ho Tram overnight — best for those who want the world top-100 experience combined with Saigon's extraordinary city culture.

Already in Asia? Fairway Weekends — 3 to 5 nights.

For golfers based in Singapore, Hong Kong or regional Asian cities — short breaks across Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi in Fairway Weekend format.
